Northumberland and the northern counties have some of the best trail riding in the UK.

If you are new to trail riding you will quickly learn that this is a sensitive countryside activity and you can’t just ride anywhere, you must stick to Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATs) and Unmetalled Roads. You also need to be mindful of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) that may be in place. The national TRF website has some helpful tips.

Fortunately, Northumbria TRF is the best place to learn how to plan a route and where you can ride legally. We run regular Rights Of Way (ROW) workshops at our monthly meetings in Blaydon.

Join the TRF and come down to the next monthly meeting to find out where you can ride.

We run a ‘newbie’ ride out every month that is open to non-members.

Email ride@northumbriatrf.org.uk to put your name down for a ride out.*

*Non members are welcome for one run, after which they are expected to join the club if they wish to continue joining ride outs.
